LTP Restaurant In Malim Jaya, Melaka

I attended my ex-classmate, Terence Ho's wedding dinner in Melaka yesterday night and I just wanted to share this in my blog. The food was out of this world!!! Ok la... a bit exaggerated but who would have guessed that a small restaurant in the suburban of Melaka dishes out food that puts the 5-star hotels in the city to shame. Well, i was impressed.

The menu was the usual chinese wedding banquet... started with the usual assorted platter. Normally, you have a combination of 2 cold appetizers i.e. the prawn salad and a serving of pickled seaweed and 2 hot appetizers, normally spring rolls and stuffed crab claw. LTP serves about 5 variety in its assorted platter i.e. the prawn salad, fish cake (combined with shreds of crab stick), crab cake, a prawn melba toast roll and a minced pork roll. It was not entirely different but the quality was there and it was delicious.

Then came the most impressive course... I was expecting the usual starchy crab meat and sharks fin soup but no... we were served individual portion of sharks fin in clear broth with chunks of dried scallop and abalone!!! wow, it was so refreshing.

Next, came the suckling pig which is not really a common feature but I heard Choy Ping's (the bride) father selected the menu. He has done well in negotiating that in... the suckling pig was crispy and succulent. Bite size and optional sesame soy dipping sauce to go with. Besides that, the dish was accompanied with pieces of toast stuffed with shanghai honey ham. Great combination.

After that came the crispy lemon chicken, followed by the steamed pomfret. These dishes were good but I would have to rate these two dishes average comparing to the preceding ones. The bar was raised a tinge too high, I suppose.

After that, came the vegetarian dish a la "lo hon" style... combination of chinese mushroom, "mean kan" or I think it is call glutton in english, another mushroom cut in cube (I am not sure what mushroom this is but it gave the sea cucumber texture). Pretty ordinary? Well perhaps, but the whole combination was laid on a bed of stir fried "tau meuw". Good choice...

Then came the curry leave butter prawns... kudos to the chef. Well done again. Prawns fried till crispy, topped with the butter sauce... not too much, not to little. Nice.

Terence and Choy Ping (and probably Choy Ping's father) made a good call to omit the fried rice from the menu. It is probably wasteful and normally is in most weddings.

I was expecting something special for dessert but we were only served cups of jelly. Hmmmm... Anyway, it was a great meal, beautiful wedding and best wishes to the wonderful couple, Terence and Choy Ping.

P.s. I know... horrible isn't it? I was too busy pigging out, I didn't take a single photo. Anyway, attached pls find the map. If you happen to be in Melaka, do check this place out.
