Brazil Churascco, Sixth Avenue
Some days, the carnivore in you awakens and you just crave for meat, meat and more meat. The bloodier the better and where best to go to satisfy your appetite but Brazil.
Especially packed on Fridays and weekends. Reservation definitely required. I called on Saturday during lunch time to make a reservation for dinner and I can only get a slot after 8:45pm.
For those who are new to a churascco... Normally, you will be served salad or you can help your self to the salad bar. Brazil's spread is by far the best buffet spread you can get. You will find not only a good selection of greens, they also serve fried noodle, banana fritters, battered mushrooms, grilled egg plant, pasta, mutton briyani and more. Just be careful you don't go too crazy and filled yourself up too early.
After the starter, the waiters will send out the skewers of meat to your table and carve onto your plate as many slices as you can eat. Well, it is not all beef... they have grilled chicken, spicy pork sausage, chicken heart, snow fish, roast lamb, garlic chicken and pork ribs. As for the beef, they have roast beef, tenderloin, strip loin, ribs etc.
There are 3 different condiments that accompanies your meat i.e. onion and pepper salsa, brown sauce and onion and cucumber dip. Not forgetting the delicious cheese bread. It's like a mini yorkshire pudding.
By the time, you are through one round of the selection, you should be pretty full. Then comes my favorite, the roasted pineapple. I am not sure whether they dip the pineapple into syrup or liquor before it is roasted but it is is caramelized slightly on the outside and it is sweet and moist when you sink your teeth into it.
I believe Brazil, have expanded their dessert menu but I was too full to try. Do check it out if you have some room for dessert. Also try the brazilian cider, guaranno, a drink made with the guarana plant extract. Guarana is a climbing plant which bear berries that provides the extract. Apparently, in Brazil the guarana soft drinks are a popular substitute for caffeine. Very refreshing.
